# Match types and negative match types

### Match types

The "Create Targeting" feature allows you to output different versions of the same term in the various match types available on Amazon for keywords and product targets. This facilitates efficient management and ensures a high level of detail.

* [x] To select the match types to be incorporated, click on the checkbox next to the names of the match types you wish to include.

{% hint style="info" %}
Match types can be added simultaneously.

* Selecting both keyword and product target match types for addition to manual ad groups may cause response errors from Amazon.
* Technically, you can choose both match types and negative match types at the same time, but this might restrict traffic in your campaigns.
 {% endhint %}

#### Keywords

Selecting any or all keyword match types (broad, phrase, and exact) will generate one output record for each match type chosen for each selected search term.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Attempting to incorporate ASIN search terms as keyword match types will not trigger any action.
{% endhint %}

#### Product targets

Selecting the product target option will create one output record for each selected search term.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Attempting to incorporate keyword search terms as target match types will not trigger any action.
{% endhint %}

### Negative match types

Similar to match types, the system allows the creation of multiple versions of negative match types simultaneously for both keywords and product targets.

{% hint style="info" %}
Negative match types can be added simultaneously.

* Automatic negative targeting records are categorized automatically into the appropriate negative match type.
* Technically, you can choose both match types and negative match types at the same time, but this might restrict traffic in your campaigns.
 {% endhint %}

#### Keywords

Choosing any or all negative keyword match types (negative phrase, negative exact) will produce one output record for each match type selected for each search term.

#### Product targets

Opting for the negative product target will generate one output record for every selected search term.

### Add source keyword

The "Ad Source Keyword" is an enhancement to keyword match types, enabling the inclusion of the source targeting from where the search term originated, in addition to the search term itself. This feature generates two sets of records for each selected match type: one for the search term and another for the originating keyword.

{% hint style="info" %}
"Add source keyword" is available only for keyword match types; selecting it while choosing targets will yield no results.
{% endhint %}
