# Update ad groups

"Update" operations in the ad groups model allow modifications in the parameters of one or more specific ad group records, offering precise control over groups of ads and targeting, and enabling you to tailor your ad group criteria effectively and efficiently.

This process is divided into two main sections: [updating the default bid](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/ad-groups/update-ad-groups/update-ad-group-default-bid.md) and [updating the status](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/ad-groups/update-ad-groups/update-ad-group-state.md) (state). You have the flexibility to update either parameter independently or both simultaneously.
