# Update targeting state

'State' or 'Status' refers to the current operational condition of an ad group, or ad. States include 'enabled', 'paused' and 'archived'. It's essential to note that the terms 'state' and 'status' are often used interchangeably in the context of the app, both indicating the ad group's operational mode.

To update targeting status (state):

* [x] Select the targeting records you wish to update using the checkboxes in the data table.
* [x] Click on "Update" in the actions bar.
* [x] In the dialog, check the "Update State" checkbox.
* [x] Select the state you wish to apply.
* [x] Click "Apply" to finalize the changes.
