# Getting started

Managing advertising accounts is one of the most time-consuming tasks for agencies, particularly when limited to using the Amazon console and spreadsheet macros. Many existing management solutions are often costly, rendering them inaccessible for many small agencies and individual sellers.

### **Advertising in beast mode**

*Introducing Advertising Beast, the most powerful amazon advertising tool.*

Advertising Beast, developed by advertising experts for sellers and agencies, presents an all-in-one solution for managing advertising accounts. It caters to both granular and large-scale needs, accommodating the management of one or multiple accounts simultaneously. This platform streamlines the most time-consuming tasks, transforming them into simple one-click operations or implementing powerful rule-based automations. This efficiency allows you to save hundreds, if not thousands, of hours, significantly boosting productivity for your advertising team and enabling you to focus on business strategy.

#### **Efficiency and ease of use**

Designed to operate Amazon advertising campaigns on a large scale, the dashboard tackles the mechanical and time-consuming aspects of management. It offers views of all entities, allowing for filtering, sorting, and adjusting multiple records simultaneously with a single action. This functionality is available regardless of the account, campaign, or ad group each record belongs to, and it covers all types of records.

#### **Affordable pricing structure**

A unique payment structure with flexible fees makes Advertising Beast an affordable option for any seller or agency, regardless of size. This approach democratizes access to advanced advertising management tools.

# Understanding the essentials

Advertising Beast incorporates sophisticated features and functionalities designed to optimize your Amazon advertising strategy. This section is dedicated to exploring two critical aspects of data management within the platform: Data Considerations and Data Processing Queue. These sub-sections are crafted to provide you with a deeper understanding of how Advertising Beast handles your data, ensuring that you make the most informed decisions based on accurate, timely, and efficiently processed information.

### Data considerations

This sub-section delves into the various factors you need to keep in mind regarding the data used in your advertising campaigns. It covers aspects like data accuracy, relevancy, and the impact of external variables on your advertising results.

### Data processing queue

Here, we explore how Advertising Beast manages the flow of data processing. Understanding the data processing queue is crucial for comprehending how your data is handled, processed, and made available for your advertising needs.

{% content-ref url="/pages/aremmtzPaAsj7THd1EiC" %}
[Data processing queue](/getting-started/understanding-the-essentials/data-processing-queue)
{% endcontent-ref %}

Together, these sub-sections will provide a comprehensive view of the data lifecycle within Advertising Beast, from input to processing, and ultimately to the actionable insights that drive your advertising campaigns.

# Data considerations

### Data accuracy

All data reported on the app is pulled directly from the API with 99%+ accuracy on amazon reported data. Only unavailable industry-standard metrics on API (like conversion rates or costs per acquisition) are calculated in-app.

Data is shown only from the moment the app gains API access to the account, and the maximum range allowed for import is 60 days prior to establishing a connection. Any data reported before this period should be considered partial.

### Date ranges

Real time metrics cannot be reported, therefore "today" does not exist in the app. Date ranges vary as a consequence.

For example, "last 7 days" and "last 30 days" are different in the app and amazon native platform. This is because amazon accounts for "today", but the app counts backwards starting "yesterday". The same will occur with "this month", which will only report data until the day before on the app. In order to compare date ranges, it is best practice to choose them manually.

### Conversion window

Understanding the difference in attribution models is essential to get a grasp on why there may be discrepancies between the sales and orders data in amazon native platform and app due to the use of different conversion windows.

The app uses the vendor central 14-day attribution model (clicks that resulted in orders within a 14-day period of clicking), whereas Amazon splits attribution models for seller central accounts in 7 days for sponsored products and 14 days for sponsored brands and display, meaning that sponsored products campaigns are attributed orders up to 7 days after the click occurred, and sponsored brands/display can be attributed orders after 14 days of clicking.

Additionally, until recently, API only attributed click-through orders, which means view-through orders (orders attributed to "views" on and off amazon) will not be reported in app for the time being. This is evidenced in the difference of conversions reported on display campaigns "views & clicks" attribution.

Sales data for campaigns using the 14 day attribution model will be identical in both platforms for the same time range (example, sponsored brands). There still may be slight differences in traffic metrics (clicks, spending, etc.) due to click/spend invalidation, but usually the difference is less than 0.10%.

The following table illustrates the differences between multiple platforms and attribution models for the different campaign types:

| | Seller central native advertising console | Vendor central native advertising console | Advertising Beast |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- | ----------------- |
| Sponsored products | 7 days                                    | 14 days                                   | 14 days           |
| Sponsored brands   | 14 days                                   | 14 days                                   | 14 days           |
| Sponsored display  | 14 days                                   | 14 days                                   | 14 days           |

Attribution models cannot be changed in either platform for the time being.

### ASIN attributed data

ASIN metrics can only be attributed to product ads; there is no attribution (or SKU/ASIN ads) for sponsored brands, as this type of campaign is associated with a landing page rather than specific ASINs/SKUs. Therefore, ad data for sponsored brand campaigns will not be present on any of the ASIN or ad tabs, though total sales do account for all campaigns (plus organic data).

It is possible to have higher sales on ads compared to totals on a specific ASIN (ad sales ratio higher than 100%); sales that originated on an ASIN can still be attributed if a different ASIN on the account (NOT COMPETITOR ACCOUNTS) converted instead of the "source ASIN". These stats can be viewed in the "same SKU"/"other SKU" metrics.

# Data processing queue

In order to be able to submit multiple requests at once and honor the limits set up by the API, all app requests are processed in batches and queued in the log system. The following points explain in detail how changes are submitted.

### Export

* Changes made via the UI are immediately created as at least one upload batch. Multiple batches will be created if an update affects multiple models—e.g. sponsored products and sponsored brands, or both product targets and keywords.
* Every minute the system checks for the next available bulk upload. If there is one in the queue, it is translated into an update batch.
* Every minute the system checks for the next available update batch. If there is one in queue, the system will send up to 500 records in that batch to amazon, with certain amazon-imposed limitations:
  * Only 100 records are sent at a time if the batch includes sponsored brands or sponsored display records, per amazon’s limitation.
  * Only 10 records are sent at a time if the batch includes sponsored brand campaigns.
* If the next batch has fewer unprocessed records than the limits (500, 100, or 10 respectively), all remaining records will be sent in this batch.

### Import

Several jobs constantly take snapshots/reports from the queue, requesting data from Amazon and later retrieving it.

* Snapshots (dimensions)
  * The snapshots handle all parameters/attributes referred to as “dimensions”: campaign name, state, budget, etc.
  * Brand snapshots are queued for import at midnight\* for active accounts (advertising=true).
  * Portfolio, and all SP, SB, and SD snapshots are queued at 1 am\* for active accounts (advertising=true).
  * Accounts marked advertising=false are queued weekly, to prioritize active accounts over dormant accounts.
* Reports (metrics)
  * The reports refer to all fields considered “metrics”: impressions, clicks, spend, etc, imported more regularly to ensure maximum accuracy.
  * SP, SB, and SD reports are queued daily at 1 am\*, 7 am\*, 1 pm\*, 7 pm\*. The app requests data for the most recent 14 days, as well as the 30th and 60th most recent day. Amazon updates metric data constantly, so the 60th day is pulled to ensure reporting the latest data before Amazon stops providing it.
  * Accounts marked advertising=false are queued weekly, to prioritize active accounts over dormant accounts.

{% hint style="info" %}
\*All times are expressed in PST.

# Onboarding

At Advertising Beast we cater to both sellers/vendors and agencies, each with unique needs and functionalities within our platform.&#x20;

Both sellers/vendors and agencies will find a suite of tools and features in Advertising Beast designed to enhance their advertising strategies and streamline their operational processes. Our platform is here to support your growth and success, whether you're managing your own account or handling multiple client accounts.

Below, you will find specific onboarding information tailored to these two distinct groups, ensuring a smooth and efficient start to your journey with us.

### Information for sellers/vendors

Sellers and vendors can leverage Advertising Beast to manage their own accounts and reports, utilizing all the features available in our standard plan. For detailed information about the various plans available, we recommend consulting with a sales representative. To get started, sellers are required to connect their primary user accounts directly through Login With Amazon. This integration ensures seamless synchronization and access to your Amazon data.

For those who require a more basic approach, there's an option to utilize only the basic reports at a fraction of the full cost. This alternative is ideal for sellers who need straightforward insights without the breadth of the full suite of features.

### Information for agencies

Agencies are welcomed with functionalities tailored to their broader management needs. Unlike individual sellers, agencies are not required to have all their seller/vendor clients connect individually if their focus is solely on advertising—although it is necessary for accessing selling account information. By using the Login With Amazon for the Advertising API, agencies can sync data efficiently as long as they have been authorized as users in the Amazon campaign manager. This feature simplifies the process, allowing agencies to manage multiple client accounts with ease.

Additionally, agencies that maintain a certain level of spend and number of clients within the app can qualify for discounts and engage in the development process. These benefits are part of our commitment to support and grow with our agency partners. Moreover, agencies can gain access to premium features, including dedicated URLs and branding personalization, enhancing their client management experience and offering a more customized interface.

# Connecting accounts

# Connecting amazon advertising accounts

In order to start receiving advertising data, the app will require an API connection through "login with Amazon".&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
Advertising manager/partner users do not have the ability to grant API access. Only primary accounts can grant authorization.
{% endhint %}

Follow the steps below to establish a connection between your advertising account and the app:

* [x] Visit the "login with amazon URL" provided by your Advertising Beast representative. The URL will be similar to the examples below, according to the assigned server allocation:
  * `https://app.advertisingbeast.com/lwa`
  * `https://example.app.advertisingbeast.com/lwa`
* [x] Enter your contact information and choose marketplace on the form.

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/A4QByPQqGrgC88tAPcl1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
* [x] If prompted, log into your amazon account using the credentials from your primary advertising account.&#x20;

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/f6VpWYvR6rzZktnzDWL4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Navigating the app

To ensure the best user experience while navigating the app, it's important to consider the current recommendations for device usage. Although the team is working diligently to offer a fully responsive experience, at the moment, the use of desktops or monitors is recommended for optimal performance and accessibility. This approach will enhance your interaction with the app's features and functionalities.

# Logging in

Visit the provided URL to gain access to the login form, which requires the email and password supplied, as shown in the examples above.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/KQhizxKoiSALsnvadN16" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% endhint %}

# Selecting accounts

There are two ways in which you may be prompted to select accounts:

* **After logging in:** Once logged in, depending on your credential type, you may automatically be prompted to select accounts in a modal window.&#x20;
* **In-app pages:** In the top navigation bar, click the "Change accounts" button. You will then see the account selection modal window modal window.

Once you see the modal window, use the dropdown selector to search for account names and their respective marketplaces. Please note that there can be multiple advertising accounts associated with a single marketplace, so double-checking is advised.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/RL0LL8mATqiBPULNU2lc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="warning" %}
There is a known bug where the currently assigned name in the Amazon console does not sync with the API; instead, the original advertising account name is displayed. If you are having difficulty finding your account and do not remember the original name you registered it with in the Amazon console, please contact app support.
{% endhint %}

# Configuring basic interface settings

### Manual zoom in-out

While a fully responsive UI is currently in development, users can manually adjust the size of elements within the app using the browser's zoom controls. This feature allows for a customized viewing experience, enabling you to enlarge or reduce the display to suit your visual preferences. Simply use your browser's built-in zoom functions to modify the scale of the app's interface for better readability or overview.

### Toggle dark mode

Although a comprehensive dark mode feature is not fully operational yet, we've implemented a color inversion setting to ease the strain of working long hours. This setting adjusts the color scheme to a darker palette, reducing screen glare and providing a more comfortable viewing experience in low-light conditions. This is especially beneficial for users who spend extended periods on the app, as it can help minimize eye strain and enhance focus. Keep an eye out for future updates where we aim to roll out a fully integrated dark mode for an even more user-friendly experience.

# Managing advertising accounts

Navigating the world of amazon advertising can be complex and time-consuming. Advertising Beast simplifies this process with a structured, module-based approach to managing advertising accounts. Whether you're an individual seller, a vendor, or an agency, our platform provides a comprehensive suite of tools organized into intuitive modules. Each module is designed to cater to specific aspects of advertising account management, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience.

To streamline management, modules are tailored to the specific needs and contexts of different types of users:

* For individual sellers and small agencies, the focus is on ease of use and direct control over individual accounts. Features like in-app bulk campaign creation and real-time data updates cater to the needs of users who require quick and efficient management tools.
* For larger agencies, the platform offers advanced features like rule-based automations and integrated billing. These features allow for managing a higher volume of accounts and campaigns efficiently, providing scalability and advanced customization options.

### Accessing modules

To access the various features of the app, there is a navigation menu located at the top of the page. This menu enables you to visit different [modules](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules) within the app.

# Modules

The distinct in-app functional units within the app are called 'modules', each designed to perform specific tasks or handle particular aspects of the app's overall functionality. These modules often work both independently and in conjunction with each other, providing a comprehensive and integrated user experience.

To enhance user experience, all modules within the app share a set of uniform components:

{% content-ref url="/pages/EzlBAkOG9RuqWYOCVTET" %}
[Cross-module components](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components)
{% endcontent-ref %}

The specialized in-app modules—each playing a vital role in the app's ecosystem—cater to different operational needs, thus enhancing the overall functionality and user experience. These modules are accessible through the primary app menu, which is located at the top of each page.

# Cross-module components

Consistency and efficiency are key to a seamless user experience across various modules of the app. This is achieved through the use of cross-module components, such as data tables and building blocks, which are integral elements present in each module. These components ensure a uniform interface and functionality, making it easier for users to navigate and interact with the app, regardless of the specific module they are working in.

### **Cross-module synergy**

The integration of these cross-module components facilitates a cohesive user experience throughout the app. Whether you are reviewing reports, managing campaigns, or analyzing logs, the familiar interface of data tables and building blocks aids in maintaining a smooth workflow. This synergy between components across modules not only enhances usability but also contributes to a more efficient management process, allowing you to focus more on strategy and less on navigating the interface.

#### [**Data tables**](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables)

*The backbone of information display*

1. **Unified layout and design**: Data tables across all modules share a consistent layout and design, providing a familiar interface. This consistency reduces the learning curve and enhances user efficiency.

# Data tables

Data tables are structured formats for organizing and displaying information in a tabular form. They consist of rows and columns, where each row represents a record and each column represents a field of the record. Data tables are essential for effectively sorting, filtering, and presenting large amounts of data in a clear and concise manner.

### In-app use cases

Data tables within the app provide you with a systematic and user-friendly way to manage and analyze a vast array of information related to accounts, campaigns, and other advertising elements, offering efficiency and clarity in your analysis and decision-making processes.

You can use in-app data tables in the following ways:

* Reviewing lists of accounts: Data tables can display accounts with details such as account name, ID, status, and associated marketplace. They allow for quick sorting and filtering to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
* Managing Amazon advertising records: For campaigns, ad groups, targeting, search terms, data tables can display key metrics like impressions, clicks, conversion rates, and budget in a granular level, allowing you to evaluate performance and request bulk operations across different records.
* Automated rules: Rules for automated operations are organized in data tables for easy access and management.
* Action logs: Data tables are useful for reviewing detailed logs of actions taken within the app, such as changes made to campaigns or ad groups, facilitating auditing activities.

### Data table elements

Data tables are  the cornerstone of information management in various [modules](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules), providing a structured and interactive way to display and manipulate large datasets. Within these tables, several key elements work in harmony to enhance functionality and your own experience. Understanding these elements is crucial for effective data navigation and management.&#x20;

Different elements that can be typically found within in-app data tables are:

{% content-ref url="/pages/M9eH1gFNukmELDq9rnPK" %}
[Actions bar](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/ueni0Fge92jPlQmFw6d1" %}
[Pagination](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/pagination)
{% endcontent-ref %}

Understanding these elements is key to effectively interacting with data tables. Whether you're reviewing lists of accounts, analyzing advertising campaigns, or managing ads and automated rules, these elements play a crucial role in providing you with a seamless and efficient user experience.

# Actions bar

The "actions bar" is a dynamic tool located at the top right of the table. The actions bar may include options like adding new records, exporting data, or applying bulk actions to selected items, depending on the module you are visiting. It's designed to facilitate common tasks related to the data in the table.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/G9aE4rMbirmnCLUiNPon" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Fast mode

The "Fast Mode" feature is designed to enhance the efficiency and speed of data loading within the app. When activated, this mode selectively omits any records that do not have reported metrics for the selected date range. Essentially, it filters out all entries that would otherwise show zero activity or no relevant data within the specified timeframe.

Fast Mode is a practical tool if you need to quickly access and analyze key data without the overhead of sifting through inactive or irrelevant records. It's an especially valuable feature when dealing with large datasets, where efficiency and speed are paramount.

This selective omission is crucial for a couple of reasons:

1. **Improved performance:** By excluding records with no reported metrics, Fast Mode significantly reduces the volume of data that needs to be processed and displayed. This leads to quicker loading times, as the system is not burdened with handling and rendering large quantities of irrelevant or non-contributing data.
2. **Enhanced user experience:** Often, you will seek to analyze and interact with data that shows some level of activity or change. Fast Mode streamlines this process by automatically removing inactive or irrelevant records from the view, allowing you to focus on data that is more likely to provide valuable insights.
3. **Optimized resource utilization:** In environments where computing and memory resources are limited, processing large datasets with many inactive records can be taxing on the system. Fast Mode helps in optimizing these resources by limiting the dataset to only those records that are meaningful for the selected period.

Fast mode is enabled by default on all pages. Should you need to analyze records with no data, you can disable it using the toggle in the [actions bar](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar).

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/rp8gE0WlpI3cm7pZy6Oo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Filters

Filters are one of the core features within the data tables, providing you with the ability to refine and segment large datasets to focus on specific aspects. Essentially, a filter is a set of criteria applied to data to isolate particular elements based on defined parameters. This tool is crucial for managing and interpreting data more effectively, as it helps in extracting meaningful information from potentially overwhelming datasets.

Filters are applied individually to each [dimension](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/data#dimensions) or [metric](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/data#metrics) (organized in [columns](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/columns)). By applying filters to these individual elements, you can tailor analysis to specific areas of interest. For example, you can apply a filter to view sales data for a particular portfolio or analyze click data originating from a specific campaign.

This individual application of filters to each dimension or metric allows for a high degree of customization in your data analysis. You are free to combine multiple filters across different dimensions and metrics to create complex, layered data views. This approach enables deep dives into specific data segments, facilitating more detailed and targeted analysis, which is essential for informed decision-making and strategic planning.

<div align="left" data-full-width="false"><figure><img src="/files/YptYh96oujFkhoAglGk2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Filtering data

Filters for each column are defined by sets of parameters, allowing you to tailor the data view according to your specific needs. You have the ability to incorporate more than one set of parameters and use [operators](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/filters/operators) to combine them in various ways. By stacking multiple sets of parameters, you can refine your views to target very specific datasets. This multi-layered approach to filtering is essential for deep data analysis, enabling users to drill down into the most relevant details.

To filter the current data table, click the "filters" button in the [actions bar](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar).

#### Adding/removing sets of parameters

* [x] **Adding parameters:** To introduce the first set of parameters, click the "+" icon to the right of the desired column. It's important to note that only visible columns are available in the filters modal. Additional sets of parameters can be added using the same "+" button, allowing for more complex filtering strategies.

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/X2NOpoYdeeck3lMPwRAl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
* [ ] **Removing parameters:** To remove a set of parameters, simply use the "x" button next to it. This flexibility ensures that adjusting your filter criteria is a straightforward process.

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/FUKl8I1jgJKeYi7gwGcq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### Defining each set of parameters

Each individual set of parameters includes input fields for:

1. [**Conditions**](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/filters/conditions)**:** Here, you select from a dropdown menu the specific condition (like 'equals', 'contains', etc.) that applies to the data.&#x20;
2. [**Nested operators**](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/filters/operators#nested-operators)**:** Another dropdown menu where you select how the conditions will interact (such as 'any', 'all').&#x20;
3. **Values:** An input field where you specify the value relevant to the chosen condition, which can either be a string (text) or a number.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/erJMowtg9nyZiohoyp3t" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Stacked sets of parameters will trigger the primary operators' function, which combines these sets in different ways, as detailed in the [operators section](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/filters/operators). This layered approach is key for creating precise and tailored data views.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/ax6LhDgquXmcWxrcjtm4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### Implementing/discarding changes

* [x] **Apply:** Implements the changes made in the filter conditions and operators. Once you have set your desired conditions, clicking "Apply" updates the data view to reflect these filters, showing only the data that meets the specified criteria. This function is crucial for the effective application of complex filtering.
* [ ] **Clear:** Resets all current filters, restoring the dimension/metric to its default state with no filters applied. This feature is particularly useful when you wish to start the filtering process anew or swiftly remove all current conditions. To make these reset changes effective, you also need to apply them.
* [ ] **Cancel:** Returns you to the data table without applying any changes. This option is useful when you decide not to proceed with the filtering adjustments you were exploring.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/EHl6FgvnJ4xz5291peLa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Conditions

In the context of data filtering, "conditions" are specific criteria used to determine which data points should be included or excluded from a dataset. A condition functions as a rule that the data must satisfy to be displayed or processed within a filter. Conditions are fundamental to the operation of data filters, as they provide the necessary logic to segment and refine data according to user-defined requirements.

Each condition typically involves a comparison between a data attribute (such as a column value) and a specified criterion. This comparison can take various forms, such as:

* **Equality**: Checks if the data attribute equals a certain value (e.g., "Status equals Active").
* **Inequality**: Determines if the data attribute does not equal a specific value (e.g., "Campaign type does not equal Sponsored brands").
* **Range**: Assesses if the data attribute falls within a specified range (e.g., "Sales is greater than $20 and less than $100").
* **Containment**: Evaluates if the data attribute contains, begins with, or ends with a certain string or value (e.g., "Ad group name begins with 'B0'").

The selection and combination of these conditions enables you to build complex filters tailored to your analytical needs. By applying conditions, you can focus on relevant data subsets, making it easier to analyze trends, identify patterns, and derive insights from large datasets. Conditions are a vital component in data management and analysis tools, providing the flexibility and precision needed for effective data exploration.

### Available conditions

The filters interface allows you to set the following conditions for each [set of parameters](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/filters#defining-each-set-of-parameters):

* **Equals**: This condition filters the data to show records that exactly match a specified value.
* **Does not equal**: This filters out any records that match a specified value, showing only those that are different.
* **Begins with**: Displays records where the specified field starts with a certain character or string.
* **Does not begin with**: Excludes records where the specified field starts with a particular character or string.
* **Ends with**: Filters to show records where the specified field ends with a certain character or string.
* **Does not end with**: Excludes records where the specified field ends with a particular character or string.
* **Contains**: Shows records that include a certain character, word, or string in the specified field.
* **Does not contain**: Filters out records that include a particular character, word, or string in the specified field.
* **Is greater than**: Displays records where the value in the specified field is higher than the set value.
* **Is greater than or equal to**: Shows records where the value in the specified field is equal to or greater than the set value.
* **Is less than**: Filters to display records where the value in the specified field is less than the set value.
* **Is less than or equal to**: Shows records where the value in the specified field is equal to or less than the set value.
* **Is blank**: Filters to display records where the specified field has no data.
* **Is not blank**: Shows records where the specified field contains any data.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/tn8FnIJ6N5YL7bK7mQaI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

# Operators

In the context of filtering, "operators" are crucial parameters that help define how different conditions relate to each other. Understanding these operators, especially 'AND' and 'OR', is key to creating effective filters.&#x20;

The filter operators are:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/wgoV3j0rpSXkMOJvFIVt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* And: This operator is used when you want to apply multiple conditions simultaneously. A filter with the 'AND' operator will only include results that meet all the specified conditions.
* Or: The 'OR' operator is used when you want to include results that meet any one of multiple conditions. A filter with the 'OR' operator shows results that meet any one of the criteria. For example, filtering for campaigns that are either "active" OR have a budget of "$100" will show campaigns that meet either one of these conditions.

Operators can be further narrowed with the use of [nested operators](#nested-operators).

### Nested operators

Nested operators function within a lower hierarchy level than the [primary operators](#operators) and allow for more complex filtering scenarios.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/x3JxYpiPaluhqTMelFim" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* **Single:** The filter meets a "single" specific condition. It's like applying a straightforward, one-condition filter.
* **Any:** This operator is equivalent to the 'OR' operator at a nested level. It meets any one of the listed conditions (each condition specified on a separate line). For example, using "any" to filter for budgets of "$20" or "$50" will show campaigns with either of these budgets.
* **All:** Similar to the 'AND' operator, 'All' meets all of the listed conditions (each condition specified on a separate line). This is used for more stringent filtering. For instance, using "all" to filter for campaigns that do not have budgets of "$20" and "$50" will exclude campaigns with these specific budgets.

#### **Applications**

Nested filters can be overlapped or combined to create even more specific and complex filtering parameters. For example:

* To exclusively analyze campaigns with a $100 budget, use "single" equals 100.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0?ui=2&#x26;ik=7e3baa7acc&#x26;attid=0.2&#x26;permmsgid=msg-a:r6445912551371135374&#x26;th=18a285f12edfb977&#x26;view=fimg&#x26;fur=ip&#x26;sz=s0-l75-ft&#x26;attbid=ANGjdJ8zClD2fdklrBDuUIESnD9ijGnHfou-gzMpQ9oVjDk7SuCd5sXjheNjTPu5AmDU07grn6qNQRvt2sGN7Ps78hpaiXdIL3zpVTDfx6NqIwfX0nK3mURyQ-GQ7kw&#x26;disp=emb&#x26;realattid=ii_lcurjf2k3" alt=""><figcaption><p>Filtered results are listed in the background.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

* To analyze campaigns with either $20 or $50 budgets, use "any" equals 20 OR 50.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0?ui=2&#x26;ik=7e3baa7acc&#x26;attid=0.5&#x26;permmsgid=msg-a:r6445912551371135374&#x26;th=18a285f12edfb977&#x26;view=fimg&#x26;fur=ip&#x26;sz=s0-l75-ft&#x26;attbid=ANGjdJ_Id0_Ee-ZdSRINjpV4X7aQkKByZlr46a4ZyL81DfbkoFl571NxW2SpJ4dJ3tQtHq38QEmiivwJWG61drETOC5VERs4Q8HaadtwmP6R_evWgTIFZve1tv3ppn0&#x26;disp=emb&#x26;realattid=ii_lcurm5p84" alt=""><figcaption><p>Filtered results are listed in the background.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

* To exclude campaigns with budgets of $20 and $50, select "all" does not equal 20 AND 50.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0?ui=2&#x26;ik=7e3baa7acc&#x26;attid=0.4&#x26;permmsgid=msg-a:r6445912551371135374&#x26;th=18a285f12edfb977&#x26;view=fimg&#x26;fur=ip&#x26;sz=s0-l75-ft&#x26;attbid=ANGjdJ8h6N__5Zf5bp9C1mK-wJ6GXkk4EFrBQvMeglRlPBUVqghHoqb1SVuxjBwIhSRJ7SZTQHtBldki7Z1y8AU9OQwfQsx2iphlYZMow_ZqKj-4VkV95nCeM7lGVyg&#x26;disp=emb&#x26;realattid=ii_lcurozo15" alt=""><figcaption><p>Filtered results are listed in the background.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

The ability to overlap nested filters allows you to refine conditions, enabling you to drill down into very specific data sets based on your unique requirements.

<div align="left"><img src="https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0?ui=2&#x26;ik=7e3baa7acc&#x26;attid=0.3&#x26;permmsgid=msg-a:r6445912551371135374&#x26;th=18a285f12edfb977&#x26;view=fimg&#x26;fur=ip&#x26;sz=s0-l75-ft&#x26;attbid=ANGjdJ943P5zW-FKx0lPuledKRsOnY78NG90sNEZNfsSC820KHmQhDZZwQh9CijCuXB5Q5FTp6O8iuxd98bMktOYTsIgero9_wPgc8wCPvmmCjYaFOtuEyX4oKsfop4&#x26;disp=emb&#x26;realattid=ii_lcurrdbu6" alt="Filtered results are listed in the background." height="253" width="738"></div>

### Operators and negative filtering conditions

The use of AND/ALL operators in creating negative conditions, such as 'does not include' or 'does not equal', is a critical aspect of filtering data. These operators play a pivotal role in refining search results and ensuring accuracy, especially when dealing with exclusions or specific omissions in data sets.

When setting up negative conditions, the AND/ALL operators are essential for ensuring that all specified criteria are met simultaneously. For instance, using 'does not equal' in conjunction with the AND/ALL operators allows you to effectively exclude multiple specific values or conditions at once. This is particularly important in scenarios where precision is key. For example, if you want to filter out campaigns that do not belong to certain categories or have budgets outside a specific range, using 'does not equal' with the AND/ALL operators ensures that all specified exclusions are applied together. This results in a more targeted and relevant dataset.

Without the AND/ALL operators, negative conditions might not be as comprehensive or effective, potentially leading to incomplete or misleading results. By ensuring that multiple exclusion criteria are satisfied concurrently, these operators provide a more robust and reliable filtering mechanism. This is crucial in data analysis and decision-making processes where overlooking certain elements due to inadequate filtering can lead to incorrect conclusions or strategies. Thus, the correct application of AND/ALL operators in negative conditions is fundamental in achieving precise and actionable insights from your data.

# Columns

In data tables, "columns" refer to the vertical divisions of a table that categorize and display specific types of information, more specifically [dimensions](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/data#dimensions) and [metrics](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/data#metrics). Each column represents a particular attribute or field of the data, such as 'Campaign name', 'Sales', 'ACoS', etc. The arrangement of these columns determines how data is presented and organized within the table, making it an essential aspect of data analysis and visualization within the app context. Columns help in structuring the data, making it easier for you to understand and interact with the information.

### Selecting columns

A master checkbox, placed at the table's header, allows you to select all filtered records, streamlining mass actions.

### Checkboxes states

#### **Checked**

When you select a checkbox, it enters the 'checked' state. This indicates that the specific record associated with that checkbox is selected for any bulk actions you wish to apply.

#### **Unchecked**

The default state of a checkbox when no selection is made. It means that the associated record is not selected for any action.

#### **Indeterminate**

This state is included in the master checkbox. When you select some, but not all, individual checkboxes, the master checkbox shows an indeterminate state (represented by a mixed icon). This indicates that not all, but some, records are selected.

# Percentage controller

The percentage controller is designed to compare the value of each record against the total or the filtered totals within the dataset. This tool allows for a relative assessment of each entry, illustrating its proportion or significance in relation to the overall data or a specified subset. This comparison aids in understanding the contribution or impact of individual records in the context of the entire dataset.

### Features and functionality

{% hint style="info" %}
% controllers are only available for [metrics](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/data#metrics).
{% endhint %}

#### **Aggregate values**

For aggregate metrics such as impressions, clicks, spend, orders, and sales, the % Controller reflects these as a percentage of the total or filtered totals. This feature is useful for quickly assessing the proportion of each metric in relation to the whole dataset.

#### **Ratio values**

When dealing with ratios like ACoS (Advertising cost of sales), CTR (Click-through rate), and Conversion rate, this controller displays a comparative analysis. It indicates how much the value of a record deviates from the average, providing insights into performance relative to the norm.

# Pagination

Pagination is used to manage the display of large datasets without overwhelming you or the system.&#x20;

The first section (bottom left) contains information about the displayed and filtered data, organized into sub-sections:

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/wV5C5Wgnye7pbA8ZoojX" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* **Results per page**: Defines the number of records displayed on each page of the table, allowing you to customize how much data you see at once. Min: 50 records, max: 1000 records.
* **Total records**: Indicates the total number of records available in the dataset. This gives an overview of the dataset's size.
* **Filtered records**: Shows the number of records that meet specific filter criteria applied by the user. This helps in understanding the subset of data being examined.
* **Selected records**: Displays the count of records actively selected using checkboxes, allowing you to execute actions to multiple records.

The second section (bottom right) divides the data into manageable pages, enhancing the navigation experience by allowing you to move between different pages of the dataset. This pagination system is essential for efficiently handling large datasets without overwhelming the user interface.

### Bidding boundaries

Bidding boundaries are predefined limits set on advertising bid amounts to control and optimize spending. They include maximum and minimum thresholds for bid adjustments, ensuring that bid increases or decreases stay within a specified range. These boundaries are critical for maintaining a budget and strategy, preventing excessive spending or overly conservative bidding. They provide a controlled environment for bid management, especially in automated or bulk bid adjustment scenarios.

Bidding boundaries are dynamic, triggered by the specific bidding update scenario. These flexible and context-specific boundaries allow for more precise and strategic bid adjustments within the framework of an advertiser's overall budget and campaign goals.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Use maximum boundary" %}
Enabling this option sets a cap on bids to ensure that any increase in bidding does not exceed a certain value, providing a ceiling for bid amounts.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/GC7mhyhMWCw7z2HSfrdQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

To assign a maximum boundary, select the "Use maximum boundary" checkbox and enter the maximum value you wish to assign.

**Examples:**

In an account with a minimum bid of $0.10 and a maximum bid of $2.40:

* Increasing a record with a bid of $0.50 by $2, with a maximum boundary of $4, would result in a $2.40 bid due to the account's max. bid limit.
* Increasing a record with a bid of $0.50 by $2, with a maximum boundary of $1.50, would result in a $1.50 bid.
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Use minimum boundary" %}
Enabling this option sets a floor for bids, ensuring that any decrease in bidding does not fall below a specified value.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/uCdtUJMCMTepEx0p1Sgg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

To assign a minimum boundary, select the "Use minimum boundary" checkbox and enter the minimum value you wish to assign.

#### Examples:

In an account with a minimum bid of $0.10 and a maximum bid of $2.40:

* Decreasing a record with a bid of $0.50 by $2, with a minimum boundary of $0.05, would result in a $0.10 bid due to the account's min. bid limit.
* Decreasing a record with a bid of $0.50 by $2, with a minimum boundary of $0.15, would result in a $0.15 bid.
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
Bidding boundaries are overridden by account-level boundaries, specifically the minimum and maximum bid settings at the account level.
{% endhint %}

# Update ad group state

# Targeting

The Targeting page in the [Bulk manager module](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager) displays all targeting data for the selected account(s) in a data table format. It allows you to filter this data and execute actions on either a single or multiple targeting records at the same time.&#x20;

If you prefer to maintain full control of your advertising by manually executing changes without relying on automated rules, this page facilitates the process by simplifying the management of targeting criteria across various campaigns and ad groups within your selected accounts.

# Update targeting

"Update" operations in the targeting model allow modifications in the parameters of one or more specific targeting records, offering precise control over targeting strategies, and enabling you to tailor your targeting criteria effectively and efficiently.

This process is divided into two main sections: [updating the bid](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/targeting/update-targeting/update-targeting-bid) and [updating the status](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/targeting/update-targeting/update-targeting-state) (state). You have the flexibility to update either parameter independently or both simultaneously.&#x20;

### Bidding update options

The update bid selector offers various options for adjusting bid amounts for targeting records. Each option provides different ways to adjust bids, either by a fixed amount, a percentage, or setting it to a predefined default.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/dKMCcKB0gHU7qltgn7PL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Increase by ($)" %}
Increase the bid by a specific currency amount.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/EOrGxq5RsOZG1AR9QVyE" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Increase by (%)" %}
Increase the bid by a percentage of the current value.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/zed1uVmcZqIWjevurcsR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Set to" %}
Directly set the bid to a specified amount.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/hicF4hy9FU5QY9tkDf4b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Set to ad group default bid" %}
Adjust the bid to match the default bid set for the parent ad group.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/ROHsMo0Jorb8OiznvGv0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Decrease by ($)" %}

{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Changes are executed using the account default currency.
{% endhint %}

### Bidding references

The increase and decrease bidding options provide a flexible range of reference points, enhancing the optimization process of individual targeting. This feature is designed to offer varied benchmarks for adjusting bids, catering to different strategic needs and allowing for a more tailored and effective bidding management experience.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Bid" %}
This standard reference utilizes the current bid set for each targeting as the starting point for adjustments. It is most effective when you wish to retain complete control over the bidding process.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/ewXZW16cYtd4ZPtHHCte" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Example of bid-based bid operation:

```
Current bid: $0.50
CPC for selected period = $0.48
Desired operation = Increase by $1.
Resulting applied bid = $1.48
```

In this scenario, the bid is used as the reference point for the bid increase. The operation adds $1 to the bid of $0.50, resulting in a new bid of $1.50.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="CPC" %}
This option takes the average cost per click (CPC) recorded for the specified period as reference. It's especially useful for aligning bid adjustments with actual performance costs.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/k7otVH49do0TJjdqUQOl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Example of CPC-based bid operation:

```
Current bid: $0.50
CPC for selected period = $0.48
Desired operation = Increase by $1.
Resulting applied bid = $1.48
```

In this scenario, the CPC from the selected period is used as the reference point for the bid increase. Instead of adding $1 to the current bid of $0.50, the operation adds $1 to the CPC of $0.48, resulting in a new bid of $1.48.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Highest" %}
This option calculates whether the current bid or CPC is higher for each targeting during the specified period. It then uses the highest of these two values as the reference for adjustments. This method can be beneficial when aiming to capitalize on the best-performing aspects of a campaign.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/4IDstRVX9twCKnNeAs0t" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Example of highest-based bid operation:

```
Current bid: $0.50
CPC for selected period = $0.48
Desired operation = Increase by $1.
Resulting applied bid = $1.50
```

In this scenario, the current bid is used as the reference point for the bid increase, as it is the highest value. The operation adds $1 to the bid of $0.50, resulting in a new bid of $1.50.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Lowest" %}
This option calculates whether the current bid or CPC is lower for each targeting during the specified period. It then uses the lowest of these two values as the reference for adjustments. This option might be preferred in conservative bidding strategies or cost-cutting measures.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/Im3w5KQrfCApJkqsSrek" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Example of lowest-based bid operation:

```
Current Bid: $0.50
CPC for selected period = $0.48
Desired operation = Increase by $1.
Resulting applied bid = $1.50
```

In this scenario, the CPC from the selected period is used as the reference point for the bid increase, as it is the lowest value. The operation adds $1 to the CPC of $0.48, resulting in a new bid of $1.48.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Use maximum boundary" %}

  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Use minimum boundary" %}

  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

{% hint style="danger" %}
Bidding boundaries are overridden by account-level boundaries, specifically the minimum and maximum bid settings at the account level.
{% endhint %}

# Update targeting state

'State' or 'Status' refers to the current operational condition of an ad group, or ad. States include 'enabled', 'paused' and 'archived'. It's essential to note that the terms 'state' and 'status' are often used interchangeably in the context of the app, both indicating the ad group's operational mode.&#x20;

* [x] Select the state you wish to apply.
* [x] Click "Apply" to finalize the changes.

# Negative targeting

# Search terms

# Create targeting from search terms

The "Creating targeting from search terms" feature employs a rule-based approach for keyword and product target harvesting. It integrates reported search terms from a specific period into your ad groups based on chosen parameters and filters.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/x2kQLmGdEH0iIrtPZXH7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

This tool is designed to efficiently process large volumes of search terms into targeting, allowing operation across multiple campaigns and accounts simultaneously.

{% hint style="info" %}
Currently, cross-account harvesting is not available; harvested terms can only be added as targeting within the same source account. However, alternative methods are available:

* Download the search terms report from the search terms page and use it to prepare a [new upload file](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/ads-launcher/spreadsheet-bulk-uploads).&#x20;
* Manually add targeting from the [ad groups page](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/ad-groups/create-targeting-from-ad-groups).
  {% endhint %}

### Harvesting terms

* [x] To initiate the process of create targeting from currently selected search terms, click the "Add search terms" option under "Actions" in the [actions bar](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar).

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/LcjDXZOVXgJ3dAuGNNPK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### Defining parameters

The process of harvesting terms is divided into various sections for parameter definition. This enables customization of targeting criteria to ensure only the intended targets are created. These key sections include:

{% content-ref url="/pages/heO8f0wi8zd2nVtBJWkc" %}
[Match types and negative match types](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/search-terms/create-targeting-from-search-terms/match-types-and-negative-match-types)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/BSXslir6L7p5FwW7Ch29" %}
[Ad group methods](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/search-terms/create-targeting-from-search-terms/ad-group-methods)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Match type/negative match type and ad group method selections are mandatory.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% content-ref url="/pages/j9b5r7sTmcKeWpwcD5MG" %}
[Output](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/bulk-manager/search-terms/create-targeting-from-search-terms/output)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Output parameters are optional and can be adjusted as needed.
{% endhint %}

#### Implementing/discarding changes

* [x] **Apply:** Implements the changes made in the filter conditions and operators. Once you have set your desired parameters, clicking "Apply" will launch the [preview window](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/preview-mode), showing you the newly created targeting that meets the specified criteria.&#x20;

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/qJiZbDtyW4pZPyaZ1Vgn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
* [ ] **Close (x):** Returns you to the data table without applying any changes. This option is useful when you decide not to proceed with the targeting creation parameters you were exploring.

  <div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/YyacBKxRHvQz4ogxfCPQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Case scenarios

#### **Adding top converting terms**&#x20;

Identify search terms with high conversion rates. Add them as targeted keywords or product targets to boost campaign profitability.

#### **Discovering the potential of new terms**

Locate well-performing search terms from automatic campaigns. Create targeting in manual campaigns for enhanced control and precision.

#### **Refining campaigns with negatives**

Spot irrelevant or non-converting terms. Use them as negative keywords or product targets to minimize ad spend waste.

#### **Expanding category product targeting**

Evaluate search term performance in category targeting. Create individual product targets from the most successful terms.

# Match types and negative match types

### Match types

The "Create Targeting" feature allows you to output different versions of the same term in the various match types available on Amazon for keywords and product targets. This facilitates efficient management and ensures a high level of detail.

* [x] To select the match types to be incorporated, click on the checkbox next to the names of the match types you wish to include.

{% hint style="info" %}
Match types can be added simultaneously.

* Selecting both keyword and product target match types for addition to manual ad groups may cause response errors from Amazon.
* Technically, you can choose both match types and negative match types at the same time, but this might restrict traffic in your campaigns.
  {% endhint %}

#### Keywords

Selecting any or all keyword match types (broad, phrase, and exact) will generate one output record for each match type chosen for each selected search term.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/2ZmR0rybSIK9aaSBT9Ny" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Attempting to incorporate ASIN search terms as keyword match types will not trigger any action.
{% endhint %}

#### Product targets

Selecting the product target option will create one output record for each selected search term.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/ZvAxrMjnK5njfuCUrHCl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="warning" %}
Attempting to incorporate keyword search terms as target match types will not trigger any action.
{% endhint %}

### Negative match types

Similar to match types, the system allows the creation of multiple versions of negative match types simultaneously for both keywords and product targets.

{% hint style="info" %}
Negative match types can be added simultaneously.&#x20;

* Automatic negative targeting records are categorized automatically into the appropriate negative match type.
* Technically, you can choose both match types and negative match types at the same time, but this might restrict traffic in your campaigns.
  {% endhint %}

#### Keywords

Choosing any or all negative keyword match types (negative phrase, negative exact) will produce one output record for each match type selected for each search term.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/O3LUJoGorywbSG9PW3A5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

#### Product targets

Opting for the negative product target will generate one output record for every selected search term.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/CxU0nAHDFVNzJe6ZqCfJ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Add source keyword

The "Ad Source Keyword" is an enhancement to keyword match types, enabling the inclusion of the source targeting from where the search term originated, in addition to the search term itself. This feature generates two sets of records for each selected match type: one for the search term and another for the originating keyword.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/MH3prhzK0H45BQdVdWAu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="info" %}
"Add source keyword" is available only for keyword match types; selecting it while choosing targets will yield no results.
{% endhint %}

# Ad group methods

Ad group methods are fundamental to the Advertising Beast search terms harvesting process. It's crucial to understand two key concepts:

* **Source ad group**: This is where the search term originates, also referred to as the "origin" ad group.
* **Target ad group**: This is where each search term is added as targeting, also referred to as the "receiver" ad group.

These methods enable the creation of efficient term harvesting workflows, facilitating a wide range of term harvesting scenarios.

{% hint style="info" %}
To effectively use any of the ASIN methods, your ad groups must be named after ASINs, following the conventions {ASIN} or {ASIN}-. If these naming conventions are not used, the system will not be able to detect ASINs in the ad groups.
{% endhint %}

### ASIN group name only

This method identifies source ad groups names that begin with `{ASIN}` format. It compiles search terms reported for each ASIN and adds them to corresponding target ad groups named after each ASIN.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/2r3Hmaho0BSJEuit88XR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Current ad group

As the name suggests, this method uses the ad group where the search term was reported as both the source and target. It places the reported search terms back into the same ad group.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/A8WVMHsGS3C8gWV8uP1E" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Custom ASINs

This method involves manually entering ASIN lists. These lists are used to locate existing ad groups in the account, following the "begins with" `{ASIN}` convention, and then adding the selected search terms to these ad groups.

* [x] To use the Custom Ad Groups method, enter or paste your list of ASINs into the text field. Each ASIN should be on a separate line. Ensure there are no blank spaces.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/bbkbDj76KmaLlADbUKLU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

### Custom ad groups

This method involves manually entering ad group lists. These lists are used to find existing ad groups in the account, and then adding the selected search terms to these ad groups.

* [x] To use the Custom Ad Groups method, enter or paste your list of ad groups into the text field. Each ad group should be on a separate line. Ensure there are no blank spaces.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/ysoZgL9bOwDtLdOitlVv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="info" %}
Custom methods are not case sensitive; text field do not distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters.
{% endhint %}

# Output

While the ad group methods are flexible and effective, the output section provides additional targeted refinement options. This prevents the indiscriminate addition of targeting to every campaign and ad group that matches the ad group method criteria. You can achieve this by utilizing campaign and ad group filtering [conditions](/managing-advertising-accounts/modules/cross-module-components/data-tables/actions-bar/filters/conditions).

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/9p9PDANLOlqVluT4SxDB" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
